A senior electricity department officer told BS News that electirical power distribution in Rangoon was cut off last year because of heat waves that passed the largest city in Burma."Because of over heat, many people wanna drink iced-water that can cause them throat problems. Moreover, people want to use airconditioners due to surrounding high temperature because of heat waves. The over use of aircons can make people suffered from stroke. If there is no electricity at all, they cannot run their fridges and aircons. So, there would be no severe problems for the people. Thinking about it carefully, we decided to blackout the whole city of Rangoon. It is for the advantage of the people."- a senior officer said.
